Coaches

Head Coach

Don Lukowski has been Coach of Boys Tennis at Newington for 25 years. He also led the team to a CCC South Conference Championship in 2006 and placed 2nd in the CCC South Blue Conference in 2016 & 2021.  Prior to coming to Newington, Coach Don was Boys Tennis Coach at Saint Thomas Aquinas High School in New Britain for 17 years.  Coach Don has also been inducted into the New Britain Sports Hall of Fame. Coach Don has a career record of 293 wins between the 2 schools.

Coach Don is a self-employed Municipal Land Records Auditor and is a graduate of the University of Hartford.  Coach resides in New Britain.

Assistant Coach

Hubert Bis

  Coach Hube is a graduate of Newington High.  He played tennis for us and was a Captain in his senior year.  Hube has great experience in coaching and teaching, having been my assistant a few years ago and also being the head coach at Classical Magnet School in 2019.

I'm very happy to have Coach Hube on board!

Hubert graduated with honors with a degree in Engineering & German from UConn in 2018 and is presently employed as a Project Engineer with MTU Aero-Space in Rocky Hill.  Coach Hub resides in Newington.

Assistant Volunteer Coach

Michael Galante

Mike Galante has joined us this year as an assistant volunteer coach.  Mike is a great player, having played tennis most of his life.  Mike went to Providence College where he was a walk on member of the tennis team.  Due to Mike's job responsibilities - Coach Mike will be helping out when he can.  Mike enjoys the game and enjoys teaching the younger players the needed skills I am very happy to have Coach Mike with us this year!  Coach Mike resides in Newington with his wife and family.
