 Newington 7, New Britain 0: It was a rather one-sided affair in favor of the Indians, who were able to secure a postseason berth in the process.

Sean Davis, Matt Utter, Ben Arora and David Magsao earned singles wins for Newington, while the duo of Gynno Bacaoco and Daniel Lasota; Ateeb Rahman and Lukas Klin; and Videep Soni and Michael Zhai earned doubles victory.

But perhaps the most interesting match of the day was between Davis and the Hurricanes’ Ali Saleh in the No. 1 singles. Davis won the first set 6-1, only to have Saleh win the next one 7-5 with David taking the tiebreaker 10-7.

“It was a good match,” Newington head coach Don Lukowski said. “For a team that doesn’t have much experience, [New Britain] played very well, especially their No. 1 guy.”
