Boys Tennis shuts out Plainville

 Newington 7, Plainville 0: The Indians left no doubt on Wednesday in their quest to enter the holiday break above the .500 mark, sweeping the Blue Devils 7-0 behind dominant performances from Matt Utter and Shihao Zhai.

Both Utter and Zhai won their singles matches 6-0, 6-0, while the second doubles team of Marc Pantano and Jake Cardines beat Plainville’s Andrew Laprise and Jarod Serrano-Avilles by the same score.

“We just played great today,” Newington head coach Don Lukowski said. “We enjoyed our afternoon there and are glad we are 3-2 heading into our Easter break.”
